"Animation ARTIST?"

"So tell me, what do you want to do?"
What a confounding and confining question!
I recently had the opportunity to have my portfolio reviewed by half a dozen studio representatives. With every encounter I was asked the question above. It's not every day that you can define your destiny in a single sentence six different ways.

The frustrating truth is that studios need to be able to define me as (insert talent here). I understand why this is important, I just need to figure out how to not lose the Art in Animation.

This video of Glen Keane puts into words my mentality, although my thoughts and skills are only in their infancy.

Sunday Painting

Below is an acrylic painting of a very particular dog. The goal was to apply the paint quickly and loosely while trying to achieve a balanced / representative look with the final image. After painting on huge walls, this 11"x14" canvas was a cinch!

Mural Progression Summer 2013

Over the course of the Summer I worked on five murals for a local church. Check out the video below to see it come to life! Watch in HD for the best viewing experience.

The NEXT 100 Days - Day 1 -

Sequels, tend to be inferior products, but on occasion they turn out better than the original. I can only think of "The Godfather Part II" and "Toy Story 2" right now, but I digress.

The one year anniversary of my freedom took place Saturday,June 8th.

It was a scary decision to leave something that was secure without a map to tell me where to go next, but everything works out well with faith, trust, hope, a positive attitude, and some inkling of what you are looking for.

In one year there has been a lot of change, and I hope to see more change in the next 365 days. Wish me luck!

TODAY, not yesterday or tomorrow

"The clock is running. Make the most of today. Time waits for no man.
Yesterday is history.
Tomorrow is a mystery.
Today is a gift.
That's why it is called the present."
